Parent co-op

Rosa Tornet’s Montessori preschool is a parent cooperative. The parents take an active responsibility for the activities by participating in one of the parent committees:

• Food Committee

  The food committee prepares food and bakes for events such as garden days and the end of summer holiday.

• Fund Committee

  Helps to apply for contributions, scholarships and grants for the preschool. Actively works to strengthen the school’s finances and processes sponsors and donors for grants.

• Outdoor Environment Committee – Garden

  Plans how the outdoor environment can be developed and takes care of some ongoing maintenance of the garden. Plans and arranges the garden days and invites other members to these days.

• Outdoor Environment Committee – Construction

  Fixes, plans, builds, renovates and restores the preschool’s outdoor environment.

• IT Committee

  Assists the pre-school director and the teachers with all kinds of IT questions and problems, upgrades and installs new programs and handles the email. Maintains and develops the website/network/printers. Administers the mailing list.

• Photo & Engagement

  FEK is a combination of marketing and photography. FEK’s role is to communicate with guardians by documenting gatherings and highlighting small and fun events to increase awareness of happenings at the Rosa Tornet. Through FEK, we are hoping to be able to increase parental involvement at Rosa Tornet.

• Indoor environment

  Repairs and maintains the indoor environment – locals, furniture and materials. If necessary, assists the educators with tasks such as setting up shelves and assembling strollers.

You are free to choose which group you want to be active in and whether you want to be committee leader or deputy committee leader. The general meeting also elects elected representatives to work on the board or election committee.

For each parent, it also includes participating in two gardening days – every spring and autumn, to do gardening and some cleaning. In this way, the parents can help to improve the children’s environment and it it also a golden opportunity for the parents to get to know each other.
